      Flicker #19

Welcome to a new generation of Flicker. Norwood has left us for sunnier climes (although he promises to make the occasional guest appearance). He's already getting his fix of Flicker out there though, as Flicker LA had its maiden flight March 17th with a small but enthusiastic audience. I don't know if I'll be able to muster the same enthusiasm as Norwood always has, but I'll do my darndest. And besides--I'm just the monkey runnin' the projector--you are the real heart & soul of Flicker, so it's up to you to make sure Flicker continues to be as great as it has always has been.

Big thanx are due to Mr. Norwood Cheek for leaving us all of his projectors & sundries to allow us to continue the tradition here (and for starting that tradition in the first place). Thanx also to Matt Andronica who has agreed to be my Sancho Panza as I try to keep this thing going, to Julie who put up flyers in Chapel Hill, to Roby Newton who promises to man the merch. And, as always, Frank Heath deserves endless gratitude for making us feel at home in the Cat's Cradle.

      Enjoy,

      Roger

      Flicker Film Grant

Flicker Film Grant #11 went to Cory Ryan who will, no doubt, soon grace us with the fruits of this grant. (For those scoring at home, that's $1100 that we've given away now.) To-nite Flicker Film Grant #12 is going to be awarded to-nite to [drum roll, please] Jim Haverkamp. Jim is one of a recent batch of transplanted filmmakers (no doubt drawn here by the allure of Flicker) who are making great contributions to our local film scene.

If you would like to be considered for the next Flicker grant, send your film proposal to:
