Thanks for coming out and supporting local filmmakers. The past few months have been exciting for the future of Flicker, Kodak is sponsoring the reprinting of the Flicker Guide to the World of Super 8 (due out in Sept), and NCMAA is helping us buy the video projector now in use. My Super 8 class at the ArtsCenter ended in April and Im hoping to see some new celluloid coming from all my students at this and future Flickers. And dont forget, the second Flicker Film Grant will be awarded tonight , so get ready, get set..........

      Yours for better films,
      Norwood

The North Carolina Media Arts Alliance is set up to assist, befriend, advise, and unite visual artists around the state. They have recently decided to assist me with the purchase of the video projector which we are already using, and through their involvement and organization of NC Visions, CineClub, and Future Arts, they are truly showing their colors as a group of artists dedicated not only to filmmaking, but also to the artists attempting to express themselves and their ideas through film. This has always been my motivation and basis for Flicker, and I'm glad to have NCMAAs support. Were all in this together.

      Flicker Film Grant

At Flicker #9, the first Flicker Film Grant of $100 was awarded to Matt Andronica. Just his test footage from his Canon 1014XLS was quite amazing to me, I cant wait to see his next film - hopefully at Flicker #11. The way I'm choosing these recipients is mainly by the look they have in their eyes when talking to them about Super 8 filmmaking. And the great thing is, there seems to be quite an abundance of people around Chapel Hill with that look, the Super 8 look.

This page is in a constant state of unfinishedness, I don't have a computer, and Mary and Chuck at catalogue.com have been super nice to set this page up and work on it when our schedules allow.

Here are our Super 8 Black & White heroes in front of their headquarters in New York City. While having some coffee with the Pac Lab folks, Peter was processing 4 Super 8 orders from Chapel Hill. I was quite proud of our little island in the sun.
